Episode 3: What is equality and diversity?

Equality and diversity are terms often used in society and the Equality Act 2010 lays out the legal expectations for charities and employers, Baptist churches included. In this episode, Charmaine and Tim share some  of society's definitions of these terms as well as briefly considering unconscious bias. They appeal for us to go beyond legal obligations and to lead in creating just and equitable communities. 

Charmaine and Tim are then joined by others including Clare Hooper, youth specialist and SCBA regional minister; Martin Hobgen, Baptist minister and disability theologian; and Hayley Young, NBA regional team leader and Baptist Union President 2022-23. They talk together about some of their own experience and their observations about the worldview of the younger generation.
