A DBS check is a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service to find out if an individual has any previous charges or convictions for offences that might make them unsuitable to work with children or adults at risk.
BUGB manages and pays for the DBS service for all member churches to check their workers and volunteers. Each church should have at least one DBS verifier and the form needed to start the process or make amendments is available from this page
DDC Ltd act as our DBS service provider, and most of our checks are done through their online portal.
Please read the Guide to DBS Checks which will help you through becoming a DBS Verifier and carrying out the role.
