New Director for GB Ministries

GB Ministries has appointed a new Director – Julie Murdy – to succeed Ruth Gilson

GB DirectorJulie (known as Jules) is a GB leader in the Greater Manchester District and was previously a senior manager for IT services within the NHS. She will take on this new role for a two-year period.

She replaces Ruth Gilson, who stepped down after 17 years in order to train for ordained ministry in the Methodist Church.

Jules said, ‘I’m really excited to be taking on this role and being part of the continuing story of GB, enabling girls and young women to discover and live life to the full.’

Chair of the GB Ministries’ trustee board Amanda Allchorn, said, ‘We’re thrilled that Jules has stepped forward “for such a time as this” and look forward to working with her.’

Ruth added ‘Recognising times and seasons is important in leadership and a key to forward movement in the mission of a Christian movement.

'I feel hugely privileged to have been involved in the GB story so far – and am stepping down now, as the time is right!

GB Ministries is home to four key initiatives that specialise in enabling this generation of (primarily) girls and women to openly explore and engage with real life and Christian faith in a fun, informative and hopeful way. They are The Girls’ Brigade England & Wales, koko, The Esther Collective, and UK Girl.
