Newly Accredited Ministers

We pay particular attention to walking with and supporting ministers who have just completed their initial formation and theological education at a college.
Some stay on as minister in the church or mission setting where they were placed during training. Others move to begin a new ministry. But all are enrolled as Newly Accredited Ministers (NAMs). For the next three years, they receive support and oversight aimed at embedding habits that will sustain and inspire them for the duration of their calling as ministers. They continue in partnership with a Baptist college by undertaking a series of tailored ‘learning contracts’ that relate to their own ministry and experience. They meet with other NAMs in their regional association for theological reflection and mutual support. And each NAM is paired with an experienced local minister who acts as a mentor who can provide support, guidance and challenge.
At the end of this probationary period and after interview with their regional association, ministers are invited to have their accreditation affirmed in a ceremony at the annual Baptist Assembly.  As our 2021 Assembly was held online, our regional Associations created a video celebrating the new ministers in their area. Click here to view their videos and meet our NAMs.
We have a leaflet, Newly Accredited Ministers: Information for Churches that explains a little more.
If you have any questions about the NAMs programme, please first of all contact your regional association.
