110 years waiting for a baptism - then two turn up at once!

The Baptist Church at Alvaston, Derbyshire was formed in 1903 and the building bought from the Methodists. However it had never witnessed a baptism in the church until July 2013.

Cheryl and David Pierce both came to faith from having their questions answered as they watched the Revelation TV channel. Cheryl had been involved in the occult earlier in her life but God had freed her from that. As she said in her testimony, 'I have had my eyes opened up about many things and also to the wrong I have done, but by His grace and mercy I feel I have been given another chance…'

David believed God but had many questions which, one by one were answered by the teaching on the channel. They found Alvaston Baptist Church to be a friendly place and felt they should be obedient and get baptised.

Cheryl is pictured being baptised by Pastor John Tunnicliffe and Alan Baseley in front of family and friends.

Thankfully the floor withstood the weight of the full baptistry which had been  borrowed. The church hopes to need to borrow the baptistry more often and are even considering installing one.
